Getting started
Layers are a method of managing the visual layout of a drawing. The program makes it possible to apply several layers at a time. With the use of layers you can group or separate the elements of the current project according to various aspects.
The program sets the Layer 0 layer as default, but you have the possibility to create additional layers. On the whole the program is able to manage 1024 layers (indexed from 0 to 1023).
In ARCHLine.XP®layers have the following properties:
Layers can be turned on and off, and can be unlocked and locked. With the help of these commands you can easily group the elements of the different layers.
When specifying the general properties of element types, you can define on which layer you wish to place the elements of an element type.
You can place objects with different properties (different color, line type, line width, even different type, etc.) on the same layer, which due to other aspects, you want to handle together.
If you activate the Layer control mode in the Modify menu, whencreating new elements the program can automatically assign the color, line type, and line width of the layer on which you place the element to the general properties of the element.
